Full Moon Ceremony

A Full Moon is a time to cleanse your energy. The moon is fully shining bright, ready to shine its light upon us to assist in cleansing for the next two weeks, until the New Moon, which is a time for manifesting.

Below I will share some tools and rituals I do the night of each Full Moon. If you would like to start working with the Moon’s energy, try one or two out and notice what feels right for you and your practice.

 

Energy Cleansing through smoke or sound

Open all your doors and windows. This will give a place for the bad energy to leave your space. Burn your favorite incense or palo santo stick. The smoke spreads to every corner of your house, picking up all the low energies, cleansing them, then floating out of your open windows.

If you are sensitive to smoke, or your living quarters don’t allow smoke, you can also cleanse with sound. There are so many ways to do this! I like using a Tibetan sound bowl, but you can use bells, bang pots, and pans, or clap your hands. You don’t need any fancy equipment to cleanse your space.

Whatever modality you choose, repeat in your mind “I cleanse my energy and my space’s energy”. This will strengthen the intention of the smoke or sound and elevate the cleansing experience.

 

Writing Exercise to Release

Start by folding a paper in half. On one side title it “Things to Release”, on the other side title it “Things to Bring In”.

On the side titled “Things to Release” write a list of everything and every thought you want to release, people you want to forgive, and anything you want to leave in the past.

On the side titled “Things to Bring In” write a list of everything and every feeling you want to bring in and manifest into your life.

The key to making this list is that you want the same amount of things in each list. For example, if you write 10 things to release, write 10 things to bring in.

Once you have your list, burn it, and release it.

As the paper burns focus on letting everything go. Take some deep breaths, close your eyes, or watch it burn and fill yourself with gratitude as you let everything release.

 

Gratitude List

Write a list of everything you are grateful for. Big and small, everything that comes to mind, put it on paper.

I like to write my gratitude list on a sheet of colored paper and doodle on it. I fill the page with gratitude and creativity to enhance the ritual we did above, to focus on what we want to bring in. Then, I put this list on display in my bathroom, so I can see it every day to keep myself in the gratitude mindset.

 

Tarot Cards

If you have a tarot deck, use your intuition to pick one card. This card will help guide you through this time of cleansing energy.

Mediation

I like to end my Full Moon Rituals with a meditation. There are many free meditations on YouTube, even some specially made for Full Moons. Pick one that calls to you, and relax your mind to let the remaining low energies release, and allow those good energies to settle in.
